16x16x.75 Inches Canvas
Oil Painting Original by Cheri Wollenberg
This is an original oil painting that I did of a horse from a photo that I snapped several years ago.  I still love to paint a horse every once in a while.  I drew them a lot when I was a child and never really owned one until I was married.  By the time we got her I was raising kids and didn't have time to ride her.  This life is short for sure!  We must do some things we enjoy and love on our families as much as possible!  This bay colored horse is listed in my Etsy store.  Have look if you like.

Painted by Cheri Wollenberg

I was traveling to the studio this morning.  It is only three miles from me so I don't get too much viewing of the "townscape"between home and there, but this morning within a couple of blocks from my destination I noticed that the leaves on the maple trees that line the streets are beginning to turn red!!  Gee, no one told me it would be overnight that the color would be there!!  Amazing how much joy color can bring.  I love it!  It first reminds me of growing up which is a story for another time! We haven't even had a freeze yet, and my husband is mowing the lawn almost every other day!!  What can I say?  It just sneaked up on me (LOL).  I listed this painting yesterday in my Etsy shop.  If you are from Shawnee or the surrounding area and are interested in taking a look at it, it resides in my studio window downtown!  Thanks for taking a look.  I loved painting this little still life too.

Small 12x16 Hay Bale Landscape Painting by Cheri Wollenberg

I love to paint!  Hay bales are my subject in this particular painting.  At my Inspire Studio And Art Gallery downtown Shawnee, Oklahoma I tell folks when they come in that I am inspired by different subject matter, but I always go back to subject matter that I loved as I was growing up.  I married a farmer and my life was full for so many years raising cattle, sowing crops, harvest time, and raising children.  Those years were so good.   I reflect on them a lot.  This field of round hay bales were about a mile from our home a few years ago.  I loved the distant hills in the background, the sky, with trees and hay bales in the foreground.  We have a beautiful earth!  Click the links for more information.

Pumpkin Patch Pumpkins

by Artist:  Cheri Wollenberg
Creating autumn paintings give me a great deal of pleasure. I love painting the colors, the shapes, beautiful leaves, harvest themes and weather that autumn brings. This painting features some pumpkins painted from a pumpkin patch using some saved images I have had from previous photo references.   Thought I'd practice before the beautiful gourds and pumpkins make it to the markets this fall. I can't wait to do some more.  You can check this painting out by clicking pumpkins!

Thankful For New Mexico by Artist Cheri Wollenberg

16x20 Original Oil On Canvas Painting
by Cheri Wollenberg - Artist

This painting is one that I began several years ago after I had become so inspired during a trip to New Mexico.  I love their grand state, and it truly is a land of enchantment.  I also love my own state of Oklahoma.  It has it's own brand of beauty that is enduring to me.  I'm thankful that I'm here with my family.  During this unpredictable and discouraging season of COVID 19 it is good for me to remember some wonderful trips my husband and I have made through the years.   I'm also grateful for digital cameras....nice ones too!  We can record lots of photos on them.  Another time I'll share about the old (yet wonderful) SLR cameras that allowed a limited amount of images on a roll of film.  So much to be thankful for today!  Thank you New Mexico for your friendly people and beautiful land that we can visit and come away enriched with enchanted visions!

Red Sandstone Mesa Formation At Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu,New Mexico

Red Sandstone Mesa Formation At Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico

This painting features a sandstone Mesa with beautiful layers of beiges, clay reds, purples of all different shades. The juniper trees with their blue green foliage and the scattering of sandstone rocks everywhere in the foreground and mid-ground creates layers of distances. Sage plants are scattered in the ditches and eroded crevices in the earth as well. I loved this area in Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico. I have written more about my trip to this area on my blog.

I love roses!  Perhaps you are a rose lover too, or you know someone who does!  This small painting would make an excellent gift for a friend or relative.  It has a Victorian feel and makes one smile.  The good thing about a painting this small is that it can be displayed on a table easel and you can have fresh roses all year long (LOL).  Click Here to see more about this painting!

Barn Landscape Painting Bella Vista, Arkansas Original Art by Cheri Wollenberg

Barns are an interesting subject to view as we travel through the countryside. We appreciate their practical use and wonder what kind of animals are kept in them, or what kinds of farm products are stored in them. They tell a story...usually of farmers and families; however, they entertain many who love to view rustic country scenes throughout our nation. I saw this barn as we traveled north to Missouri. The barn was up on a hillside and I snapped it at a perfect time from the car. I was so glad to get the image so that I could paint it later, because I loved the beautiful rustic colors of the fall and earth from down below.  You can purchase a print of this barn by following the highlighted description under the image above.

Queen Of The Hill

Queen Of The Hill

8x10 Original Oil On Canvas (Sold)
by Cheri Wollenberg

"Queen of the Hill' seems to suit this black baldie cow as she stands proudly on the hill looking down at the viewer. Her black coat glistens in the light and she has her head held high! I think she looks like a magnificent creature who is in a surrounding of grasses and trees at a distance. The blue sky sparkles as it is reflected on her coat and her face is designed with SUNGLASSES!  Prints are available in different sizes by clicking the link (Blue Highlighted Text) above.  You will be directed to Fine Art America's webpage where she awaits anyone with an interest:)  Thanks for stopping by and reading about her.  She stood tall that day!

Brown Black Tailed Rooster Painting By Cheri Wollenberg

10x10 Wrap Around Canvas
Original Oil  Painting by Cheri Wollenberg

Roosters are beautiful creatures.  However, some of them have angry or mean dispositions!  Growing up in central Oklahoma both sets of my grandparents raised chickens.  The chicken yards were especially inviting to us children.  Both my mother and father were from large families so there were many grandchildren belonging to both sets of grandparents.  As an older adult I realize now that lots of little kids hanging around chicken yards would more than likely agitate roosters trying to protect their chickens and brood.  All this to say, we were warned that roosters could flog or attack us smaller human beings (LOL).  My husband and I had a few roosters when we lived on our country place.  I managed to photograph all of them at one time or other to paint.  In the next several days I plan to feature my rooster paintings on my blog.  Have a look at them.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I did painting them.

Artist Studio At Payne, Oklahoma

Two years ago in 2018 we decided to downsize from a large old farmhouse in which we had put twelve years of  hard work.  It was almost 100 years old then, but had very good bones.  We loved fixing it up.  It had the original "pecan" wooden floors downstairs and plain wooden floors upstairs.  It was not an easy thing to do because in some ways it was a dream that we got to live out, and we weren't really ready to hang up our hats.  The image above is the room I made for a studio.  This is before we replaced the 4-window wide area with a very large picture window.  The photo was also made before I brought up a lot more furniture, paintings and painting supplies. It was the best light I've ever had to paint in.  Even though I have a very large studio space now in Shawnee, Oklahoma, I still miss the north light of that studio.
If you are curious about my paintings, please feel free to visit my FaceBook page where I usually tell a little about my latest paintings.  You are invited to "like" my page if you are interested.
