I love to paint!  Hay bales are my subject in this particular painting.  At my Inspire Studio And Art Gallery downtown Shawnee, Oklahoma I tell folks when they come in that I am inspired by different subject matter, but I always go back to subject matter that I loved as I was growing up.  I married a farmer and my life was full for so many years raising cattle, sowing crops, harvest time, and raising children.  Those years were so good.   I reflect on them a lot.  This field of round hay bales were about a mile from our home a few years ago.  I loved the distant hills in the background, the sky, with trees and hay bales in the foreground.  We have a beautiful earth!  Click the links for more information.

I try to paint nearly every day.  Some days I'm successful in accomplishing my goals and some days I have focusing problems!  Some days I look out my studio window which is upstairs in my home, and I see cattle grazing across the road and/or I might have a moment or two giving into a daydream.  Here in Oklahoma we have been experiencing very cold and record-breaking temperatures for the past week and one-half.  The trees that were turning to shades of yellows, rusts and browns are beginning to lose their leaves now and soon will be gray and brown stumps and limbs across winter green pastures.  This painting was a scene of trees about one-fourth mile from our home.  I can see a long ways from my studio...or here in Oklahoma, we might say over yonder!(lol).  I took a picture and this is a cropped view of what I saw that warm day that has turned cold, gray and wintery now.  It is listed in my Etsy store.  Thanks for coming by.

Ms July is a Hereford cow.  I enjoy painting Herefords with colors in the natural environment of Oklahoma.  The soil where I live is very red and the greens of the pastures, trees, and grass are complementary in color schema.  In the winter the cattle graze on the wintered gray and beige grasses in pastures that accentuate their coats that have become dark rust in color and hairy.  The blues and grays of distant trees create a beautiful palette.  Reflections of the variety of moods in the sky complete beautiful color to translate to a canvas.  Ms July is listed in my Etsy store.....here!

 This painting was created in my studio from a photograph taken in Glorieta, New Mexico.  I was drawn to this view because of the sections between the trees. They reminded me of windows.  I thought it very interesting how each natural window had its' own composition.  New Mexico is one of my favorite states.  I probably have as many photos taken in that state as all others I've traveled combined.  I use to want my husband and I to retire there, but as grandchildren began to enter the picture I began to rethink my desires.  From an artist's point of view every state of the United States of America has a certain beauty.  We are indeed a blessed people to live in such a great place in the world.

At our farm in Oklahoma I can go out the back door anytime of the day and observe different patterns of light through the trees in the back yard. I could paint this particular place dozens of times like Monet did on his haystack series, and never tire of the different moods and elements of art that create such exciting compositions.
