Red Enamelware Pot With Red and Yellow Flowers and Lemons - A Still Life Painting

Red Enamelware Pot -Red and Yellow Flowers
8x8 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
Summer is brightness and fun.  Artists express what is around them.  I have many favorite items to set up in still lifes to paint.  In this painting I wanted to convey a mood of  brilliance and brightness - summer in this case with this little daily painting.  Reds and yellows convey warmth so my choices of items were perfect for what I wanted to create.  This painting is listed on Etsy.  You are welcome to visit there or contact me personally about the purchase of this painting.  Have a happy summer!

Round Hay Bales in the Summer

12x12 Original Oil on Canvas
by
Cheri Wollenberg
Summer brings heat and hay harvest.  It is a good time for family get togethers, apple pie, and watermelon.  Country folks continue to bale hay, feed the chickens, cows and other farm animals.  Summer also is a time for riding horses, fishing and mowing the lawn (over and over and over).  We have been working at our farm home.  It is so hot this year that we work for a couple of hours and then cool off and drink lots of water and tea.  I'm thankful today for the earth and its beauty - Psalm 104:5

Last of Mom's Zinnias 2010

6x8 Oil on Canvas

(SOLD)
When we made our trip to Oklahoma last we worked on my mother's lawn.  She has lovely flowers that she grooms faithfully spring, summer and fall.  In one corner she keeps  a bed of zinnias.  The plants themselves were beginning to appear straggly (if this is a word).  The last few blooms were still so brilliant and colorful I asked her if I could have them for a painting.  Of course she clipped them for me and I set them up in a blue and white vase that has a frogged cover.  A beautiful primary color scheme began to appear.  This painting can be purchased here:

Watermelon - A Summer Snack

Watermelon - A Summer Snack
by

This painting of watermelon was something I’ve wanted to do all summer. In fact I have another one started at the moment that is much larger. Creating the texture, color and form in this small 6x6 format was a pleasant process. My grandson, Cole, ate this piece plus a couple more as soon as I finished.  This painting can be purchased at my etsy website:  http://www.chatterboxart.etsy.com/
