Food always tells a good story if it is grown in your garden. A couple of years ago I had a container garden and I did very poorly on my tomatoes and for the first time ever I grew these gigantic red and green bell peppers! Of course they were so exciting to me I had to set them up in a charming still life and compose a painting. I enjoyed doing this one. It would look good in a cooks' kitchen or any place of eatery!

Four tomatoes are the subject of this medium sized painting.  Food paintings create a comfortable decor in many kitchens; however, my interest in painting them goes a little beyond kitchen decor.  Every time I have set tomatoes up for a still life composition to paint....the reflections and colors of the fruit have created such visual excitement that I am inspired over and over again.  This painting is listed in my Etsy shop.  Click tomatoes to see more details.

Moving is not easy!  We have been moving to a different state during the last several weeks.  Oh My!!!

This is one of the paintings that I have managed to complete since moving my studio.  I'm getting use to my surroundings, and I needed the therapy that painting provides me.  When I paint my troubles and stress seem to disappear.  This particular still life painting was a little more tedious for me to do than some.  Green and red bell peppers make such a wonderful complementary statement.  Kitchens that have a lot of reds in them has to have green to create pleasing color balance.  In this painting the blue and white bowl seemed to be the perfect container for this little still life.  I loved the way the colors complemented one another and bounced around visually. If you are interested in this painting you can find it by clicking Peppers!
