Still Life Painting - Copper, Crock and Red Onions

16x20 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
This summer we had a great garden.  The okra, black-eyed peas and tomatoes are the only veggies that are still producing at the moment.  Every vegetable that we've taken from our garden was beautiful to me!  Yes... I'm amazed that food can actually start from a "wee" little seed and bring forth fruit that can nourish and sustain us.  What a miracle!  The red onions were the inspiration for my painting here.  They are beautiful in color and texture.  Their design brings joy to my brush:)
You can find this painting here.

Copper in Paintings

9x12 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
Yikes, summer brings many duties and responsibilities!  Gardening flowers and vegetables, visiting relatives, traveling, mowing grass and taking care of a home can burn away many hours, right?  In all these choring events I try very hard to paint everyday.  Many times I do and some times.....well, I just don't get it done.  I like sharing about my inspirations and paintings I have completed.  I get behind on blogging faster than I do painting (lol).  I thought I would blog a few posts about some of the copper paintings that I have completed over the last several months.  For some reason, painting that reddish, metallic color is exciting for me.  Some of the paintings that I will be posting about can be found in my Etsy store; however, some of them have sold.  If you are interested in purchasing any painting, you will have to contact me through email if you do not find them in my store.  Thank you for looking.

Radish Bunch

Radish Bunch
10x10 Original Oil on Canvas

There is nothing quite as beautiful as fresh veggies picked from the garden.  Not only are they beautiful, but they give great pleasure to the gardener who grew them.  Radishes have been some of my favorite veggies since I was a little girl.  I loved digging them up, taking them to a water hose and cleaning them off and I like the hot, spicy taste they bring to the palate.  Delicious to eat....delicious experience of painting these beauties!

Onions and Green Beans

(SOLD)

Finally finished this little painting!  It had been roughed in since last summer.  I sometimes get ahead of my paintings (with other paintings).  This painting reminds me of years of having gardens and the harvest that comes with it.  We raised wheat for years and when it came off for harvest so did my green beans.  I always planted too many and therefore I was overwhelmed with doing beans at that time of the year.   Finally, I guess after many open complaints of frustration, my sweet husband told me something like this one day, "Cheri, don't worry with those beans anymore.  If you just have to have fresh green beans, there are enough vegetable stands around here to keep us eating for weeks."  Right now this little painting is featured on an etsy sight that you can follow by clicking this link:
