Blue and White Pitcher with Yellow Roses

10x10 Original Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
I have had such beautiful roses this year.  It has not been easy to come by either.  It has taken a good seven years of experimentation, education and hard work.  We live on a hill in central Oklahoma and the dirt is red!  It is red clay but beautiful, but it isn't the best soil or doesn't provide the best conditions for roses, hydrangea or peonies.  Thanks to some wonderful articles in blogs and information on Pinterest I've managed to get my roses to bloom.  I guess my main purpose for working with these particular flowers is that I love painting them.  This particular still life only features a couple, but I'm working on bouquets.  My love for blue and white pottery and china seems to compliment the roses.  This painting is listed in my Etsy store.  Have a LOOK, and thanks for stopping by:)

Still Life Painting of Rose Decorated Cup and Saucer

Roses Cup and Saucer Still Life Painting
8x10 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
I love shabby chic décor!  I have always had a weakness for pretty, feminine things and for years my husband tolerated our bedroom in Victorian and Shabby Chic style of décor.  He is a sport:)  I also love painting roses, so every once in a while I just have to paint flowers or an item that has floral décor.  This painting of a cup with red and bright pink roses is listed on my Etsy website here.

Still Life Painting - White Roses and Hot Pink Flowers

9x12 Oil on Canvas
by
Cheri Wollenberg
I have been painting a lot of cattle lately and decided that I should quit painting coats of hair and do something else for a while (lol).  Still lifes are always handy.  I love to painting roses.  My husband buys roses for me occasionally "just because".  He knows that I love painting them, arranging them in different compositions to paint and enjoying them in my home.  I'm not sure that they are my favorite flower, but I like painting them.  These white roses looked very pretty against the hot pink flowers.  I thought the copper pot would add to the warmth of the whole composition.  To buy this painting click here.

Rose Bouquet in Teal Pitcher

9x12 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
This is one of the latest listings in my shop on Etsy.  I am also a featured artist on Imagekind today.  Please take the time and visit and place your "like" on their sight.  It is a great place for artists to sell their work.  Follow this link:   http://www.imagekind.com/
This still life  painting is of a bouquet of mixed roses that my husband gave me last Valentines Day.  It was one of the most beautiful bouquets I had ever received and I took many images to remind me of them.  This is one of the images and of course painting them would have been much more fun to do live, but I liked working on this little painting.  Another post with these same roses is dated here on my blog.  I did a mini documentation of the way I painted them in a brown bowl.  For more information about this painting you can follow this link.

First Day of Spring - Ha! Ha!

After long winters, freezes, gray skies and icy roads we look forward to springtime.  We look forward to spring because it brings newness, recovery and promise of beauty and good things.  Today is the first day of spring and guess what?  We have approximately 11 inches of snow with predictions of more to come.    A major cold front with two separate blasts from the north began to invade our "warm" town last evening and has continued to drop huge snowflakes.  Just about the time we see budding of trees, spring bulbs popping up from the soil, fresh air and sunshine....what a surprise.  It IS the most beautiful snow by far that I can remember.  I choose to enjoy it and be glad!  I choose to see the good! (Romans 8:28)  Spring will eventually come and bring colors that will warm our hearts.  The painting of the single rose below will suffice until the real thing!
