Strawberries and Demitasse

Strawberries and Demitasse
6x8 Stretched Canvas
Still Life Painting by Cheri Wollenberg

I've been buying  fresh strawberries again.  So, this usually means that because they are so beautiful I am compelled to paint little paintings of them before they are all consumed!  In this little composition I arranged the strawberries around this little demitasse, blue and white cup and saucer.  I loved the primary color scheme it created; however, I must confess that I have several more little paintings in the "oven".
This small painting can be found in my Etsy shop.  You can click the widget at your right on the screen or click here.

Red, Delicious Strawberries - Food Still Life Painting

8x8 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg

Strawberries have a way of coming into my painting compositions every year about this time.  I can't decide whether the inspiration comes from loving the delicious food itself, their color and handsome design, or whether they look  stunning and inviting mixed with other shapes, colors and textures.  Either reason I enjoy painting them as a favorite food and subject in of my small my still lifes.  This one is listed in on Etsy.  Click Here

Strawberry Duet

6x8 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg

These two delicious, red strawberries were a couple that were in my last strawberry painting.  I still cannot get over how large they were.  My husband and I went to the same market yesterday to purchase a carton, but all of them of that particular brand had disappeared.  Many times when strawberries get that large their flavor is somehow diminished.  This was not the case for these delicious fruit.  PLUS, they were perfect for still lifes!!!  My goodness how much fun they were to paint.  This particular small painting of of the Strawberry Duet can be purchased in my Etsy store by clicking here.

Strawberries and Vintage Blue Glass Creamer Still Life Painting

12x12 Oil Painting on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg
Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog.  Usually I'm singing my woes that I cannot find the time to paint, but during the last couple of weeks I've painted very consistently full time.  But, to get them posted is another issue!  Spending a great deal of time in one task always takes from another.  Don't you love strawberries! These strawberries were so huge!  My husband and I ate them within 4 days and literally two of them made a huge helping (lol).  When I buy fruit one of the first things I think of is how beautiful!  How Beautiful!  What a blessing it is to eat beautiful food and then in my case, arrange them so that I can make them last longer by painting them in still lifes!!!!  Even in all the snow and bad weather we have had here in Oklahoma we can go to a market and buy beautiful and delicious fruit to eat!  How blessed we are in this life.  This medium to small sized painting is listed in my Etsy store.  You are invited anytime to take a look here.

Still Life Painting - White Pottery Teapot And Red Strawberries

14x18 Oil on Canvas
Cheri Wollenberg

Exciting strawberries!  Why would an artist be interested in painting strawberries?  Why would a viewer desire to look at them?  Inspiration in some form or another always comes from our senses.  Everytime I buy strawberries I think to myself I will have to paint them before my husband and I eat them up!  The color of bright red brings a delight to my eyes.  The juicy, wet quality (touch sense) and the tangy smell of them causes me to remember their delicious taste.  All of these reasons cause me as an artist to record those sensations with brush and paint in hand onto a support (canvas).

Strawberries II

I have certainly found out that the discipline of writing (posting) is much harder than the discipline of painting pictures. It has been a while since I posted last; nevertheless, I must say that I am on a roll -- a strawberry roll! Webster's Dictionary describes my "roll" as moving like a ball, as if on wheels. I have been painting strawberries almost daily for a week. Mmmmm, such pleasure, both edible and in creativity. Hope you enjoy the next few days as I have.

Strawberries

This is an older image and blog entry that I had posted on my former blog.....the one I lost!!!!  It seems there is an abundance of fruit this year.  Strawberries are delicious to eat, but their vibrant color and beautiful shapes are very inviting to a painter.  I enjoyed painting these lovlies.  I'm forever amazed at God's providence and creation.  I'm still new to blogging and each day I'll probably tidy the post up a bit (smiles).  So, bear with me all you silent ones out there - ha!
