Roses come and go and I'm through with this particular arrangement.  I took lots of photos of the same roses so I'll try them again in a different container.  If you are interested in purchasing this painting click:

Mixed Rose Bouquet II in Progress

My roses have now died, my bowl is still floating and my surface (cloth) needs more dark values.  I'm not sure whether I'll put the corner of the table in or paint the edge of the table straight across.  I'm thinking about adding a little of the cloth decoration.  I have realized that I have the roses way to focused and the edges are too severe,  and I haven't honored the focal area.  I squeezed the top rose in while I should have let it go out of the picture and now all of them are too crowded......I think the roses "grew" before they died (laugh).  Many decisions I have to make while I'm painting on some other things, and then to make things worse....I place guilt trips on myself for not posting often enough.....who told me to post often....myself, of course.
I need to have a dialogue with someone else!  Hope my husband is ready when he comes in this evening:)

Mixed Rose Bouquet

11x14 Oil on Canvas
by

I love to paint roses.  I just finished all of my small series of musical bovines and I'm feeling like spring.  Flowers are calling!!!  My husband brought in the prettiest mixed bouquet of roses to me for Valentines Day.  I have arranged those beautiful roses in dozens of ways and I'm anxious to get started on one.  They are a week old today and I have clipped the stems twice and they are still absolutely gorgeous.  This painting is one from an older image. To buy this painting you can click:  Roses.

Pink Cabbage Roses

Pink Cabbage Roses
9x12 on Stretched Canvas
by

I love painting roses. A friend who paints with me every week brought roses to class for about four weeks this spring. Her gardens overflowed with beautiful roses of all colors and varieties. We painted from life and took dozens of pictures as references. What fun it is to try to recreate such gorgeous flowers.
